SECOND TERM PROJECT
THE HISTORY OF POP MUSIC
As a second term project we are going to
do a webquest about the history of pop music. A webquest is an
inquiry-orientated lesson in which most of the information comes from the
Internet.
INTRODUCTION
There is no particular style of
music that can be clearly identified as pop. This is because pop music is
always changing. It can be identified as the most popular mainstream music of
the time. Since the 1950's, this has been the music that has evolved in the
wake of the rock and roll revolution of the 1950's. Pop music has been and
continues to be a melting pot of styles.
It is the type of music that most of you enjoy. There are lots of singers or bands belonging to this genre and some of them make millions of dollars every year by selling cds and giving concerts all around the world. But do you know about the origins of this kind of music or its characteristics.

TASK
In groups of three you will have to
prepare a PowerPoint presentation containing the following information:
- Definition of pop music
- Characteristics
- Timeline with the main exponents of Pop music of each period.
- Choose a pop singer or a pop band. Name, components, instruments they play, distinctive characteristics, music ……
